Walking At Alumni Gym McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends Assoc. will open the alumni community gym every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., for anyone to get out of the cold and exercise in the gym. This is a free activity. If Central Fulton School District is closed because of the weather, the alumni gym will also be closed. Any questions call 485-0221 or 377-3643.

Open Stage Hustontown Volunteer Fire Co. will hold an open stage Saturday, February 22, at 6 p.m. Kitchen opens at 5 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Mic/Jam Night McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends Association will host a Mic and Jam Night Saturday, February 15. Alumni gym will open at 4 p.m., with music starting at 5 p.m. All ages are invited to come and listen, dance, and enjoy a night out. Anyone wishing to perform, please contact John Hendershot at 328-2899 to be put on the schedule or just show up .

Toy, Train, Doll Show A toy, train and doll show will be held Sunday, February 23, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Scotland Community Center, 3832 Main Street, Scotland, Pa. Admission is $2.50; early birds are $5; and under 12 are free. More information may be obtained by calling 264-3081.

Little League Registration Anyone interested in registering for the 2014 Fulton County Little League season should contact Greg Strait at 485-5723 or Loy Garber at 485-4902 to obtain a registration form. Return the completed form to FCLL, PO Box 132, McConnellsburg, PA 17233. Little League is for ages 9-12; Farm League – 7- and 8-year-olds; and teeball - 5- and 6-year-olds.

Game Night A special game night will be held at the Warfordsburg Senior Center February 14, to celebrate Valentine’s Day, weather permitting, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Seniors 60 and older are welcome to come and join in the games. There are card games, dominos, Scrabble or play the shuffleboard. All are welcome to bring a game. Bring a snack, your sweetheart and come and join the fun. Call 717-294-6020 for more information.

Shooting Match Hustontown Volunteer Fire Co. will hold a shooting match Saturday, February 15, at 1 p.m. Sign-in at noon. Prizes will be awarded. A special shoot will be for half a hog.

CF Hall Walking Central Fulton hall walking will run until the end of March. Hall walking will be at the high school Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Check the Web site for updates at www.cfsd.info.

MEETINGS

P.O.W.E.R. Meetings P.O.W.E.R. (Parents Offering Wisdom, Education and Release) will meet February 20 and 24. The goal of the group is to support and educate the community, the addict and the families of addicts to the issues and problems that can occur when dealing with addicts and their recovery programs. Emotional and possible financial support are also offered to any individual who might need it to successfully overcome an addiction. The meeting is held at 292 Buchanan Trail. Historical Society Meetings Fulton County Historical Society monthly board of directors meetings will be held February 20, March 20, April 17 and May 15 at 7 p.m., at the Fulton House, McConnellsburg.

MOMS Meetings Southern Franklin County MOMS Club meets the third Thursday of every month at 9:30 a.m. Support is offered to stay-at-home moms in Greencastle Antrim School District, Tuscarora School District and McConnellsburg. For location and more information contact sfcmomsclub@outlook.com.

Pesticide Meeting A pesticide recertification meeting will be held March 6, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at McConnellsburg High School cafeteria. The program will give 2 Core and 2 Category credits. This will be the only program offered to the public in Fulton County so be sure to attend if needing credits. The meeting will follow the school schedule; if the Central Fulton School District is closed or has early dismissal there will be no meeting held. Please call 717-485-4111 for more information.

Quilt Club Meeting Fulton County Quilt Club will meet February 15, at 10 a.m., at Fulton County Library, McConnellsburg. There will be a business meeting, followed by a lesson on hand applique. The only supplies needed are a needle, thread, scissors, a few fabric straps and a brown-bag lunch (opt). The Quilt Club welcomes anyone who may be interested in quilting, regardless of skill level. Novices are always welcome.

Sportsmen’s League Meeting Fulton County Sportsmen’s League will meet at 7 p.m. in the stone house at the trout nursery February 21.

Conservation District Meeting The annual Ag. winter meeting, sponsored by Conservation District, will be held February 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Fulton Theatre, McConnellsburg. Lunch will be provided. Call 485-3547, Ext. 4, or go to fultoncountyconservationdistrict.org.

Friends Of Meadow Grounds Meeting Friends of Meadow Grounds Lake holds a monthly meeting on the fourth Monday of every month at 6 p.m. at Community State Bank at 415 Fulton Drive (runs from the Giant to Cito Road). The public is invited to attend and contribute.

Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime will be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Wednesday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Fulton County Medical Center cardiopulmonary rehab gym. The cost is based on insurance. Call Kim or Patti at 717-485- 6149 to see if insurance provider is accepted. Community Wellness is $40/month/person or $70/month/couple.

Yoga Classes Reaching Wellness yoga classes will be held for all ages every Wednesday, 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., at Community State Bank. Call for cost and to register at 717-485- 4492.

Free Dental Screenings Free dental screenings for ages birth to 18 will be held at Fulton County Family Partnership Dental Clinic (Overly-Raker building), February 14 and 21, from 9 a.m. to noon. Free Blood Pressure Screenings Free blood pressure screenings will be given at the following locations: Mc- Connellsburg Senior Center – the first Thursday of every month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Hann’s Apartments – the first Thursday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.; Warfordsburg Senior Center – the first Tuesday of every month from 11 a.m. to noon; and Hustontown Senior Center – the third Thursday of every month from 11 a.m. to noon and Mt. View Apartments – second Tuesday monthly 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Alzheimer’s/Dementia Support Group Alzheimer’s/ dementia support group meets the third Tuesday monthly at 6:30 p.m. in Fulton County Medical Center, Pearl Room. More information may be obtained by calling 717-485-6108.

Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month. When the third Monday is a holiday, it is held the fourth Monday from 10 a.m. to noon. To register or sign up for lunch call 717-294-6020.

McConnellsburg AA Meetings The McConnellsburg Chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. every week at the Alumni Building basement, McConnellsburg, and Mondays at 11 a.m. at Fulton Co. Medical Center.

Forestry/Wildlife Conference All forest landowners or anyone interested in wildlife and forests, are invited to attend the 17th annual Forestry and Wildlife Conference, sponsored by Woodland Owners of the Southern Alleghenies. The conference will be held at Breezewood Firehall Saturday, March 8, 2014, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will include a hot lunch. The theme of this year’s conference highlights good forest management, with a special emphasis on understanding forest history and maintaining archeological sites or artifacts in private forests. Local vendors of forest products or nature crafts are encouraged to display and sell their products. The conference registration form is available at www.thewosa.org. Benefit Book Sale A giant benefit book sale will be held May 9-11. Over 60,000 new and used books of all types, plus CDs, maps, sheet music, magazines, videotapes and artwork will be offered for sale at bargain prices at the 30th annual Friends of Legal Services book sale at Laird Hall on the Wilson College campus in Chambersburg. Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, May 9; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, May 10; and noon to 4 p.m., Sunday, May 11. For information call 717-262- 2326.

Hunter/Trapper Course Fulton County Hunter/Trapper course will be offered Saturday, March 29, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club. Preregistration is required. Volunteers Needed Lutheran Home Care and Hospice is in need of caring individuals interested in becoming hospice volunteers. Volunteers are needed to provide friendly visits, bake bereavement bread, share a special talent such as singing or playing music, and we are also in need of certified pet therapy volunteers. Free training is provided. Training classes will be held at Lutheran Home Care and Hospice, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, on March 12, 19 and 26, from 8 a.m. to noon. Free Tax Preparation Chambersburg Tax Aide Program and AARP Foundation will offer free tax preparation in Chambersburg and McConnellsburg to low- to moderate-income families. Site locations and dates: Eugene Clark Jr. Community Center, 235 South Third Street, Chambersburg: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays; American Legion Post 46, Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg: 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays; and Fulton Theatre Building, North Second Street, McConnellsburg: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesdays.

Veterans Assistance Dan McIntyre, assistant state service office of Veterans of Foreign Wars, will be at McConnellsburg VFW to assist veterans with service-connected disability claims. Spaghetti Dinner Southern Fulton PTA is sponsoring a spaghetti dinner and a show at the elementary school, Saturday, March 29, at 6 p.m. Featured will be national awardwinning vocalist Sandy Uttley performing a tribute to Patsy Cline with classic country and oldies. Pancake/Sausage Breakfast A pancake and sausage breakfast will be held February 22, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 7404 Lincoln Highway, Harrisonville, from 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Served will be regular, blueberry and buckwheat pancakes, sausage, pudding, fruit, coffee and tea. Donations are willingly accepted.

Pancake Supper Whips Cove Church will hold a pancake supper Saturday, March 8, at 5 p.m. Served will be buttermilk pancakes, old-fashioned buckwheat cakes, eggs, pork puddin, sausage, ham, sausage gravy, coffee, hot chocolate and juice. Donations accepted and greatly appreciated. The church is located at 5044 Moss Road, Warfordsburg.

Murder Mystery Dinner A Murder Mystery dinner, hosted by Forbes Road Athletic Association Boosters, will be held at Post 561 American Legion February 15. Doors open at 5 p.m. and meal at 6 p.m. Show follows the meal. Advanced ticket purchase required: adults $35, students $20. Lincoln Day Dinner Fulton County Republican Committee will hold its Lincoln Day dinner Saturday, March 1, at 6 p.m., at McConnellsburg Firehall. Adults are $13, children ages 7-12 are $6.50 and 6 and under eat for free. Call committee members or Jackie Yates at 717-573-2571 for tickets.

Family Game Feed The annual family game feed will be held February 15 at Calvary Independent Baptist Church, 140 McGoverns Lane, McConnellsburg. Dinner will be at 5 p.m. Bring trophies to display. Prizes will be given for antler scoring contest. Demonstration of live falcons, hawks and owls. Prizes awarded including deer hunt, guided pheasant hunt, fishing trip and deer rifle. Soup Night McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church soup night will be held until April 9, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Any cancellations due to weather will follow the Central Fulton School District schedule.

Free Meal A free meal will be served the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street. Please join in for good fellowship.

McCbg. Bingo McConnellsburg Fire Co. will hold bingo every Friday. Bingo starts at 7 p.m. and doors open at 5:30 p.m.
