RELIGION

Special Services Special services will be held at My Father’s House Ministries September 27-29. Alan Ross from Scotland will be the guest speaker. Services will be Friday, September 27, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, September 28, at 7 p.m., plus Sunday morning, September 29, at 10 a.m. Everyone is welcome to celebrate the 14th anniversary. Special Singing Masters Four will be singing at Laurel Ridge Christian Church, September 29, at 10:30 a.m. All are welcome.

Tonoloway Service Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Church, the first organized church in Fulton County, will hold its annual service at 2 p.m., Sunday October 6. The church is located on Thompson Road, two miles north of Hancock. The Sharon Mennonite Bible School Choir will provide the a cappella music. The newly released Volume II of the Fulton County Veterans of the Civil War will be available at that time.

Special Services Pleasant Ridge Church of the Nazarene will host special services with Rev. Rick and Sharon Riley from October 6-9. Sunday services will be at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Weekday services will be held at 7 p.m. There will be a carryin fellowship meal directly following the Sunday morning service. The church is located at 5806 Pleasant Ridge Rd., Harrisonville. All are welcome.

RECREATION

Social Night Another Western night will be held September 27, at Warfordsburg Senior Center’s social night for folks over 60. Come dressed in Western attire and enjoy the food, dancing or just listening to the music furnished by Barb and Forrest. Bring a covered dish; meat is furnished by the Warfordsburg senior citizen club. Meal is at 6 p.m. For more information call 717-294-6020.

Library Teen Board Bike Ride Fulton County Library Teen Advisory Board will meet at the Pump Station Road entrance to the old Pennsylvania Turnpike for a bike ride Sunday, September 29, at 3 p.m. Please bring a bicycle as well as a flashlight or headlamp to help navigate the tunnels. Registration/ liability forms will be available and will require parental signature for events held during the 2013-14 school year. All teens between ages 13 and 19 are welcome to attend.

Mic Night Open mic night will be held at Needmore Firehall September 28, October 26 and November 23. Doors open at 4 p.m. and open mic is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Game/Movie Night Game/movie night will be held at Warfordsburg Senior Center October 4, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Seniors 60 and older are welcome to come and join in the games. There are card games, dominos, Scrabble or play the shuffleboard. All are welcome to bring a game. Light refreshments are welcomed such as chips, dip, cookies, cheese, crackers, etc. A movie will be shown for those who like to just sit and watch a movie and eat popcorn. Golf Tournament A 4-man golf tournament will be held at Great Cove Golf Club September 28 at 8 a.m. Proceeds benefit Fulton County Pony/Colt Baseball Programs. Deadline to register is September 25. X Card Shoots Fulton County Pistol & Rifle Club X card shoots will run every Friday night until November 22. Kitchen will be open.

Wounded Warrior X Shoot Wounded Warrior X-card shoot will be held at Fulton County Pistol & Rifle Club Sunday, September 29, at 2 p.m. Kitchen will be open.

Fight Like A Girl Benefit The fifth annual Fight Like a Girl cancer benefit luncheon will be October 5, 2013, at Calvary Baptist Church Life Center. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. and program starts at 11 a.m. A catered lunch will be served. Silent auction items and raffles will be available to raise funds for three local persons with their struggles. This year’s recipients are Mary Barnhart, Kathy Hendershot and Johnathan Farling. Tickets are $15 each or $75 for a table of 6 seats. Door tickets will be limited so reserve now. Line Dance Fulton County Line Dance Club will hold line dance sessions every Wednesday (except the first Wednesday of the month) beginning at 7 p.m. at VFW Post 655, Poplar Street, McConnellsburg. All are welcome. Come and learn some new steps. A $2 donation is appreciated.

Open Stage Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will sponsor an open stage Saturday, September 28, at 6 p.m. Kitchen opens at 5 p.m. Free admission.

Casino/Outlets Trip A Sands Casino and Outlets trip is planned to Bethlehem, Pa., Saturday, November 2. The bus will leave the VFW at 6 a.m. Cost is $40, which includes $30 free slot voucher plus $5 food voucher. There are 16 restaurants and 24 outlets (Coach, Under Armor, Tommy Hilfiger, Guess, Corningware, Dress Barn, Van Huesen, Izod, etc.) Make reservations with Linda Lynch at 717-552-5422 or bring money to VFW. Parenting Courses McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church and Fulton County Family Partnership are offering a series of free parenting groups open to the community September 26, October 10 and 24, November 7 and 21 and December 5, at McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Childcare provided. Love’s Closet Moving Love’s Closet is moving to the lower level of the H&R Block building, rear of 416 Lincoln Way East, McConnellsburg. Some items will be available outside the new location Saturday, October 5. Love’s Closet will officially open on November 2.

SF Clothing Sale Southern Fulton School District is having its fall school spirit and clothing sale. Items for sale include, but are not limited to, sweatshirts, hoodies, sweatpants, teddy bears, car flags and license plates. Orders are due by October 17, 2013. CROP Walk Help fight hunger and poverty all over the world by joining the 29th annual Fulton County CROP Walk. This year’s event will be held at Cowans Gap State Park Sunday, October 6, at 2 p.m. Contact Patty Hall at 814-599- 7756 for more information.

Volunteer Day At Cowans Gap Cowans Gap State Park will host a volunteer event September 28 to celebrate National Public Lands Day. Join park staff and other volunteers for a rewarding day of volunteering at Cowans Gap State Park. Volunteers are needed to assist with trail and day-use area maintenance, litter cleanup, table assembly, gardening, nature center chores and campground cleanup. This event is being held from 9 a.m. to noon with sign-in held at Pavilion #1. Preregistration for this event is required in order to prepare tools and work assignments. Alzheimer’s/Dementia Support Group Alzheimer’s/ dementia support group meets the third Tuesday monthly at 6:30 p.m. in Fulton County Medical Center, Pearl Room. More information may be obtained by calling 717-485-6108.

P.O.W.E.R. Meetings P.O.W.E.R. (Parents Offering Wisdom, Education and Release) will meet on the following dates: September 30, October 14 and 28, November 11, December 9, January 13 and 27 and February 20 and 24. The goal of the group is to support and educate the community, the addict and the families of addicts to the issues and problems that can occur when dealing with addicts and their recovery programs. Emotional and possible financial support are also offered to any individual who might need it to successfully overcome an addiction. The meeting is held at 292 Buchanan Trail. Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime will be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Wednesday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Fulton County Medical Center cardiopulmonary rehab gym. Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month. When the third Monday is a holiday, it is held the fourth Monday from 10 a.m. to noon. To register or sign up for lunch call 717-294-6020.

Free Blood Pressure Screenings Free blood pressure screenings will be given at the following locations: Mc- Connellsburg Senior Center the first Thursday of every month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Hann’s Apartments the second Monday of every month from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; Warfordsburg Senior Center the third Wednesday of every month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and Hustontown Senior Center the third Thursday of every month from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

McConnellsburg AA Meetings The McConnellsburg Chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. every week at the Alumni Building Basement, McConnellsburg.

Veterans Assistance Dan McIntyre, assistant state service office of Veterans of Foreign Wars, will be at McConnellsburg VFW to assist veterans with service-connected disability claims. Democratic Dinner The Fulton County Democratic fall dinner will be held at Needmore Firehall Saturday, October 12, at 7 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the door or from committee members.

Free Meal A free meal will be served the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street. Please join in for good fellowship.

REUNIONS

Hustontown/FR Alumni Banquet Hustontown/FR Alumni banquet will be held October 5, 2013, at Hustontown Firehall. All graduates of either high school are invited to attend. Open Forum Environmental Action Group will hold an open forum featuring John Hanger, former secretary of the PA Department of Environmental Protection, on “The Environment and Climate Change.” The forum will be held in the community room, lower level entrance, Fulton County Library, at 6 p.m., Wednesday, October 2.

Democratic Meetings The Fulton County Democratic Club meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Democratic Headquarters building at 123 South Second Street in McConnellsburg. Bingo Shade Gap Fire Co. will hold bingo at the Shade Gap Ladies Auxiliary building every Thursday. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and games start at 6:30 p.m.

FULTON FALL FOLK FESTIVAL ACTIVITIES

Breakfast Buffet Cito United Methodist Church will serve a breakfast buffet Saturday, October 19, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Cito Fellowship Hall located at 3746 Cito Road, McConnellsburg. The buffet-style breakfast will include pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns, chipped beef gravy, toast, orange juice and coffee. No charge. Donations accepted.

FFFF Parade Registration Parade registration forms for the Fulton Fall Folk Festival parade are due by September 30. Entrants must preregister. The chamber office will be closed that Saturday and no one will be available for assistance. Forms can be located at www.fultoncountypa.lcom.
