A crash occurred when a woman attempted to pass another at the intersection of Lincoln Highway and Possum Hollow Road on Jan. 31 at 4:49 p.m. According to state police, Paul S. Buterbaugh, 70, McConnellsburg, and Bonnie S. Buterbaugh, 71, McConnellsburg, were slowing down to turn left onto Possum Hollow Road. Denice Blackburn, 58, North Huntingdon, was driving in the same direction at a speed greater than that of Buterbaugh and attempted to turn onto Possum Hollow Road at the same time. Blackburn’s 2014 Lincoln- Continental MKZ hit the front of Buterbaugh’s 2009 Nissan Frontier with its front right. Blackburn then continued off the road and into a nearby property, where she hit a pole light, arbor, and screen on the porch of the property. Injuries were reported for Blackburn and Bonnie Buterbaugh.


A 19-year-old McConnellsburg male was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance during a traffic stop conducted by the state police Jan. 16. The traffic stop took place, police said, on Great Cove Road and R and D Lane, Todd Township, at 7:58 p.m.

DUI Crash/Drugs

A man under the influence of drugs crashed into a woman at the corner of Great Cove Road and Lincoln

Way East on Jan. 7 at 5 p.m. According to state police, Shane Singer, 27, Saint Thomas, crashed his vehicle into a 35- year- old Mc- Connellsburg woman’s vehicle. Through investigation it was determined that Singer was under the influence of drugs at the time of the accident.

Single-car Crash

A 2006 Ford Fusion struck a utility pole along Pump Station Road on Feb. 1 at 1:38 p.m. According to state police, Dakota Wagenbrenner, 20, Needmore, was traveling south on Pump Station Road when unsafe road conditions caused him to leave the roadway and strike a utility pole. There were no injuries reported.

Drug Possession

A McConnellsburg man was arrested for drug possession Jan. 28 when he was stopped for a traffic violation at Lincoln Way East and Third Street. State police said they found David Lane, 51, in possession of a small amount of marijuana at 7:40 a.m.

Firearm Sale Under Investigation

State police reported that an attempt to purchase a firearm the afternoon of Oct. 25, 2018, at 500 Fulton Drive in Ayr Township was denied. Police reported no other information but said their investigation continues.
