Free Lunch Lunch will be served every first Friday of each month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at McConnellsburg United Methodist Faith and Life Center, across from the courthouse. Parking available behind the church. Soup, sandwiches, salad bar, potato bar and dessert bar are served. Dine-in or carryouts with donations accepted.

Breakfast Meal A pancake and sausage breakfast will be held January 19, from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at Asbury United Methodist Church, 6399 Lincoln Highway, Harrisonville. Served will be regular, buckwheat and blueberry pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, orange juice and coffee. Donations accepted. All are welcome.

Meals Available Once a month volunteers pack up boxes of food to be given to anyone in need in the Waterfall area. Pickup is at Center United Methodist Church community building on Doran Road, Waterfall. More information may be obtained by calling 814-685-3780. Calls will be kept strictly confidential.

Free Meal A free meal will be served the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street. Please join in for good fellowship.


Grocery Auction Needmore Volunteer Fire Co. will hold a grocery auction at the firehall January 26 at 5:30 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. Partial list includes toilet paper, paper towels, laundry soap, dish soap, food, etc. Kitchen will be open for food and drinks. All are welcome.

Open Mic Night McConnellsburg Senior Center will hold an Open Mic Night Monday, January 14, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m, at the center. Food available. All are welcome.

Mic Night Mic Night will be held at Warfordsburg Senior Center January 12, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., weather permitting. Kitchen opens at 4 p.m. Food and drink will be available. Monetary donations are appreciated. Everyone is welcome. For more information call 717-294-6020.


Adult Education Classes No high school diploma? Check out Employment & Training Inc., 122 West Market Street, McConnellsburg, which offers free adult education classes and brush-up classes. If interested or know someone who may be interested, contact 717-485-5131.

Work Experience Program Employment and Training Inc. of Fulton County is recruiting out-of-school youths ages 16-24 for the Work Experience Program. Individuals will be placed at host work sites fitting to his/her interests and must meet WIOA eligibility to participate. All jobs are with local employers for 30 hours per week at $8 per hour. Scouts Accepting Members Troop 43, chartered by the United Presbyterian Church of McConnellsburg, is accepting boys ages 11-17. Free Computer Certificate Programs Free computer certificate programs with more than 10 different computer programs to choose from. Pop-Up Library Join at the Warfordsburg Senior Center and Cathy’s Store in Crystal Spring for a pop-up library. Check out books and other items. Let the library know ahead of time and they will bring it. Register for a library card and access online services. Join in first and third Thursdays from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., at Warfordsburg and 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Crystal Spring. All are invited.

Preschool Story Hour Join in for songs, stories, and activities to help a child love reading from birth. Preschool Story Hour is held weekly at 10:30 a.m. Hustontown Branch Library hosts Tuesdays and McConnellsburg Library Wednesdays. Pre-K Registration Southern Fulton School District will hold pre-kindergarten registration Thursday, February 14, and Friday, February 15. The inclement weather make-up day will be February 18. Anyone having children who will be 3 or 4 years old before August 1, 2019, call the elementary school at 717-294-3400 to schedule an appointment.

Narcotics Anonymous Meets two times per week in McConnellsburg. NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. Members share their successes and challenges in overcoming active addiction and living drug-free, productive lives through the application of the principles contained within the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of NA (patterned after Alcoholics Anonymous.) Anyone is welcome no matter what is used or how big the desire to stop using is. Sundays at 7 p.m. in Fulton County Medical Center Wellness Center, 294 Lincoln Way West (old Dollar General); Thursdays at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 228 North Second Street, Mc- Connellsburg (down the outside stairs). Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held every Wednesday at 7 p.m., including holidays, in the basement of McConnellsburg alumni building, 301 East Maple Street. This is an open meeting that anyone can attend.

Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to noon. When the third Monday is a holiday, the class is held the fourth Monday. To register or sign up for lunch call 717-294-6020.

Memory Loss Support Group A memory loss support group meets the third Tuesday monthly, at 6 p.m., in the Pearl Room at Fulton County Medical Center. Please use the south entrance. For more information call 717-485-6108.


PARSE Meetings PARSE Chapter 127 retired state employees will meet on the second Wednesday of each month at the McConnellsburg VFW at 10 a.m. Attendance is important to our chapter.

Bedford-Fulton Recreation Authority Meeting Bedford- Fulton Joint Recreation Authority will hold its monthly meetings on the second Monday of each month at East Providence municipal building, 174 Municipal Road, Breezewood. Open to the public; meetings begin at 6 p.m.

Democratic Club Meeting Fulton County Democratic Club meets the second Tuesday of each month at Democratic headquarters, 123 South Second Street, McConnellsburg. All are welcome. More information may be obtained by calling 717-485-3386.

Singles Meeting Knobsville Singles will meet Monday, January 14, at 11 a.m., at K’s Place, weather permitting.

Historical Society Meeting Fulton County Historical Society’s winter meeting will be held Saturday, February 2. This year’s meeting will have a different format and location. Local historian Ken Keebaugh will be guest speaker and will discuss the various transportation routes through Fulton County and various landmarks along the routes. The society will host the meeting in the auction/banquet room at the rear of the museum annex. There will be an open house and a meal prior to the speaker’s presentation. The open house and meal will cost $7.50 per person. Meal will consist of baked chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, corn, dessert and a drink. The open house will start at 5 p.m., and will offer guests a chance to view the annex exhibits and review the work accomplished since the building was purchased in December 2016. The meal will start about 6 p.m. The open house and meal will be limited to 60 people. Those not wanting to participate in the open house and meal can still attend the guest presentation. Doors will be opened at 6:45 p.m. for the presentation. For reservations contact Mark Sheffield at 717-485-4191 and leave a message if there is no answer.

Sportsmen’s Meeting Fulton County Sportsmen’s League will meet at 7 p.m. in the stone house at the trout nursing January 18. New officers and board members were elected during the December meeting and will take their office and positions at this meeting. Members attending this meeting are asked to donate an item to be raffled off at the close of the January 18 meeting.


Praise/Prayer Night A community praise and prayer night will be held Sunday, January 13, at 7 p.m., at Southern Fulton High School auditorium. All are welcome.
