Senior Center Social Night Warfordsburg Senior Center will host its first social night of the year Saturday, March 30, at the center. Joanne and Gerald Mellott will host the social and entertainment for the evening. Seniors 60 and older are welcome. Bring a covered dish; meat is furnished by the club. Cornhole Tournament/Wing Night Needmore Fire CO. will hold a cornhole tournament and wing night Saturday, March 30. Doors open at noon and tournament begins at 1 p.m. Kitchen will be open. Tip jars and 50/50 available. Entry fee is $5/person for tournament. Must be 18 or older to attend. Tournament will be held at fire station with boards and bags provided. RSVP by March 27 by messaging the fire company page if wanting to play.

New York Trip Modern Woodmen Youth Group is sponsoring a day on your own in New York City, May 18. Cost is $55 per seat. For more information, contact Cheryl Cutshall after 4 p.m. at 814-448-2777.

Chamber Banquet The annual Fulton County Chamberof Commercer awards banquet and silent auction will take place at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at McConnellsburg Firehall. The event is sponsored by F&M Trust, BB&T, Fulton County Medical Center Foundation, The Mellott Co. and Alexander Financial. Walk, Play, Run Walk, play and run at McConnellsburg Alumni Community Center every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Get out of the cold and get some exercise. Daddy/Daughter Dance Fathers, uncles, grandfathers and father figures bring daughters out for a night of dancing and fun. Fulton County Partnership’s annual Fulton Fatherhood Initiative Daddy Daughter Dance will be held March 22, at McConnellsburg United Methodist Church from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Auction A public charity auction to benefit Path Valley Historical Society will be held at Spring House Farm, 18087 Dry Run, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Connor Rosenberry will be the auctioneer and Valley residents and others are asked to contact Tammy Bair Adams at 717-349-2583 or Johann Grove at 717-349-2015 if having good salable items for the auction. Looking for usable items no longer being used that will benefit the society. Donations are welcomed.

Vendor Fair Warfordsburg Senior Center will hold a vendor fair March 22 and 23. Anyone interested in participating, as a vendor, call 717-294-6020 for more information.

Special Activities At Center Special activities at Hustontown Senior Center for March are March 21: Gospel Strings at 10:30 a.m.; and March 26: presentation on medication safety and drugs at 10:30 a.m.

Bus Tour Sign up for Fulton County Historical Society’s (FCHS) spring bus trip Friday, April 26. Bus leaves Mc- Connellsburg Giant parking lot at 8 a.m. for Williamsport, Md., for the C&O Canal and then on to Harpers Ferry, W.Va. The morning activities include the Trolley Barn exhibit, C&O Canal Lock 44 and Lock House with a private tour guide. After a catered lunch by Rose’s Café, the tour moves on to Harper’s Ferry, with a rest stop at the visitor’s center and to board the park shuttle for area museums and shops. At 2 p.m., a park ranger will provide an hour-long general history talk. There are three stops on the non-strenuous walk with seats for those who need them. The tour will return to the Giant by 5:45 p.m. Cost is $50 per person for FCHS members and $55 per person for non-members and includes bus, all admissions, lunch, and all gratuities. Pop-Up Library Can’t make it to the library? Join in every first and third Thursday at Cathy’s Store in Crystal Spring from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., and Warfordsburg Senior Center from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., for the pop-up library. Check out books and other items. Let the library know ahead of time and it will be brought along. Register for a library card and access online services.

Play Grow Learn Plus Join in Mondays at Fulton County Library from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., to play, grow, and learn. This is a 5-week session March 11 thru April 8. Children ages 0-3, siblings, and caregivers are invited to join. Family Place Libraries is a national organization that supports families of young children. It is based on research about the connections in the brain that need to be made at this very early age and about the role as the first and most important teacher. Play, Grow, Learn, Plus will give an opportunity to interact with professionals on child development. Weekly topics include: early literacy and general parenting, speech, hearing, and language development, child development, nutrition and music and movement.

FR Registration Forbes Road School District will hold Redbird (K-4) and kindergarten (K-5) registration for the 2019-2020 school year Monday, April 8, and Tuesday, April 9. Children who will be age 4 on or before the first day of school are eligible for the Redbird program and children who will be 5 on or before September 1, 2019, are eligible for the kindergarten program. Camp Cadet Fulton County Camp Cadet is now accepting applications for 2019 Camp Cadet Program which will be held at Camp Sinoquipe Scout Reservation in Fort Littleton June 2-7, 2019. Any child interested can pick up an application at the Pennsylvania State Police Barracks, 500 Fulton Drive, McConnellsburg, or at Fulton County Services for Children, 219 North Second Street, McConnellsburg. Applications must be returned by March 18, 2019, and all applicants will be notified of interviews to be conducted April 6, 2019, at the police barracks.

4-H Blueberry Sale Fulton County 4-H Clubs are holding a blueberry sale. Cost is $29 for 10-lb. boxes of large, clean blueberries. Delivery is Friday, June 28. Contact any 4-H member or Penn State Extension Office at 717-325-4871 to place an order. Last day for orders is June 6.

Victory Garden Fulton County Master Gardeners invite all to the garden for fun, friends and fresh veggies. The program is an award-winning educational program for those interested in gaining the skills on how to get the most from a vegetable garden and is held Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. May 2 thru September 26. Cost is $35 per person or $45 for a family. The garden is located on Second Street behind McConnellsburg Firehall.

Jump Start Event A Jump Start event will be held at Mc- Connellsburg School Wednesday, March 27, at 6 p.m., in the middle/high school cafeteria. Diona Brown from PA Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) will be speaking about a wide range of topics that are of interest to college-bound students and their families. Whether the student is considering a one-year diploma/certificate, a two-year degree, a four-year degree, or an academic program that requires graduate level work, JumpStart will highlight practical steps that can be taken years in advance. The event is designed primarily for eighth- to eleventh-grade students, but it will include something for everyone. The goal of JumpStart is to maximize college and career readiness, and to minimize indebtedness. For more information contact the guidance office at 485-7048.

Thirty-One Fundraiser Fulton Liberty Council will hold a thirty-one fundraiser at the Extension Office Friday, April 5, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, April 6, from 9 a.m. to noon. Come out and see new styles and prints.

Scouts Accepting Members Troop 43, chartered by the United Presbyterian Church of McConnellsburg, is accepting boys ages 11-17. Free Computer Certificate Programs Free computer certificate programs with more than 10 different computer programs to choose from. Work Experience Program Employment and Training Inc. of Fulton County is recruiting out-of-school youths ages 16- 24 for the Work Experience Program. Individuals will be placed at host work sites fitting to his/her interests and must meet WIOA eligibility to participate. All jobs are with local employers for 30 hours per week at $8 per hour. Bloodmobile Red Cross will be accepting blood donations at the Faith Center in Warfordsburg Thursday, March 28, from 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. There is a critical need for blood in the area.

Narcotics Anonymous Meets two times per week in Mc- Connellsburg. NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. Members share their successes and challenges in overcoming active addiction and living drug-free, productive lives through the application of the principles contained within the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of NA (patterned after Alcoholics Anonymous.) Anyone is welcome no matter what is used or how big the desire to stop using is. Breastfeeding Support Group Breastfeeding support group classes are held the first Wednesday monthly with Fulton Family Practice lactation counselor Kayla Sholes. Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to noon. When the third Monday is a holiday, the class is held the fourth Monday. To register or sign up for lunch call 717-294-6020.

Operation Save A Life Anyone concerned that a loved one is at risk for overdosing on prescription pain medications or heroin or would just like to learn more please attend this training April 2, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street, McConnellsburg in the basement social hall. Participants will learn opiod types, how to recognize, respond to and prevent an opioid overdose and how to administer Narcan. Call 717-485-6767, Ext. 222 to register. All participants receive a free dose of Narcan.

Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held every Wednesday at 7 p.m., including holidays, in the basement of McConnellsburg alumni building, 301 East Maple Street. This is an open meeting that anyone can attend.

Garden Club Meeting North End Garden Club will meet at Fulton County Library March 26 at 11 a.m.

Bedford-Fulton Recreation Authority Meeting Bedford- Fulton Joint Recreation Authority will hold its monthly meetings on the second Monday of each month at East Providence municipal building, 174 Municipal Road, Breezewood. Open to the public; meetings begin at 6 p.m.

FOOD & DINING

Spring Tea As a reminder, Fulton County Historical Society’s spring tea will be held in the museum annex banquet room Saturday, April 13, at 11:30 a.m. Currently tickets are sold out. There will be a fashion show of designs by Janice Duvall Glazier and Donna House will give a short history of the local ladies’ career.

Potpie Dinner A slippery potpie dinner (ham, beef and chicken) will be held at Needmore Bible Church Saturday, March 23, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Cost is by donation. Benefits Music Outreach Ministry.

Coffee With Ken Center for Community Action’s HiSet program coordinator and instructor Ken Kaufman will continue his regular series Koffee with Ken March 22, which will allow for conversation and discussion with community leaders and those interested in learning more about the community and programs. Ken welcomes the USDA for a spring planting discussion this month. CCA is located at 216 North Second Street, Suite D, and can be reached at 717-485-4380.

Free Lunch Lunch will be served every first Friday of each month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at McConnellsburg United Methodist Faith and Life Center, across from the courthouse. Parking available behind the church. Soup, sandwiches, salad bar, potato bar and dessert bar are served. Dine-in or carryouts with donations accepted.

Pasta Dinner A pasta dinner will be held Saturday, March 23, at Warfordsburg Presbyterian Faith Center, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The dinner will be by donation for senior project by Bailey Burkett to benefit Platoon 22, which helps all veterans, and first responders with PTSD, and raise awareness of the suicide epidemic. A silent auction will also be held during the dinner. Served will be pasta, salad, bread and dessert. Come show support for Bailey, and these amazing Warriors who have sacrificed so much for all of us.

Historical Society Dinner Mark calendars for Fulton County Historical Society’s annual dinner and meeting Saturday, April 6, at 5:30 p.m., at Hustontown Firehall. The membership business meeting will start at 5:30 p.m., followed by the meal at 6 p.m. This year’s presentation, which should start by 7 p.m., will be on the history of the three local fire companies: McConnellsburg, Hustontown and Needmore. Menu will be roast beef and roast turkey and the cost is $15 per person. Make reservations no later than March 27, by calling 717-485-4574. Leave name and number attending. Reservations received later than March 27 may not be accepted.

Chicken BBQ Needmore Fire Co. will hold a chicken barbecue March 24 at 11 a.m.

Spaghetti Dinner A spaghetti dinner by donation fundraiser (with Mrs. Kerns sauce) will be held Saturday, March 30, at Hancock American Legion, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sponsored by Hancock Lioness Lions.

Scouting Breakfast The eighth annual Friends of Scouting breakfast will be held Friday, March 22, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., at McConnellsburg VFW Post 655. Speaker will be Emily Aronhalt. The breakfast is open to all those who value the Scouting program in Fulton County as it prepares the next generation of young people for the responsibilities of adulthood and citizenship. Meals Available Once a month volunteers pack up boxes of food to be given to anyone in need in the Waterfall area. Pickup is at Center United Methodist Church community building on Doran Road, Waterfall. More information may be obtained by calling 814-685-3780. Calls will be kept strictly confidential.

Free Meal A free meal will be served the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street. Please join in for good fellowship.

Soup Night Soup night will be held every Wednesday thru March 27, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church. In the event Central Fulton School District is closed or has an early dismissal soup night will be cancelled. Check out on www.mupc.org.

Book Bingo Free book bingo will be held at Southern Fulton Elementary, 3072 Great Cove Rd., Warfordsburg, Saturday, March 30. Bingo will be in the gym. Doors open at noon and games begin at 12:30 p.m. Snacks, drinks and daubers will be available for purchase. This is the Silver Award project for Junior Girl Scout Braelynne Shives.
