Bluegrass Jamboree Mason-Dixon Council, Boy Scouts of America, will host the sixth annual Sinoquipe Bluegrass Jamboree September 12, from noon to 5 p.m. A silent auction will be held throughout the day. Auction items are needed to support the Scouting program and may be delivered to Camp Sinoquipe or dropped off at Ott Brothers, 472 Buchanan Trail, McConnellsburg, during normal business hours. Pool Party Fulton Fatherhood invites all to a free pool party August 28, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Cove Valley Camp. Light snacks and drinks will be provided. Please RSVP by August 21 at 717-485-6767, Ext. 215.

Family Fun Day Everyone is invited to attend Family Fun Day at J.A. Carney Ballfield, across from the R.W. & BT Firehall in Robertsdale, Sunday, August 23, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The day starts with worship service at 11 a.m., followed by free lunch and games for kids and adults including bounce house, obstacle course, Uncle Clem’s horse-drawn wagon rides, face painting, snow cones, etc. Also a car show with registration from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and in concert will be Tennessee recording artist Anita Stapleton from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Bring chairs. Everything is free. Sponsored by Robertsdale Church of God.

Red Sox Tryouts The Mid-Atlantic Red Sox, sponsored by Under Armour, will conduct tryouts for the fall and spring 13U North team Saturday, August 22, at Greene Township Municipal Park, 996 Elevator St., Chambersburg. Cruise-In For A Cause A cruise-in will be held September 19, rain or shine, at Thomas All Things Automotive, 21518 Great Cove Road, McConnellsburg, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. A $10 donation is being accepted per registered vheicle. Proceeds benefit Sandy Swope and Lori Sipes Miller who are battling cancer. Food will be available for purchase by Sipes Smokehouse BBQ. A bake sale is being hosted by Kevin and Kim. Cars, trucks and motorcycles are welcome. The first 35 registered vehicles will receive a thank-you gift envelope. No alcoholic beverages. Not responsible for accidents. Hancock Open Mic The Allegheny Ramblers will be appearing at Hancock Open Mic Friday, August 21, at 5:30 p.m. Cost is by donation only. There will be an open mic for anyone interested in sharing talent before and after the Allegheny Ramblers perform. All are welcome.

Softball Tournament The Greater Hancock softball tournament will be held Saturday, September 12, at 9 a.m., at Kirkwood Park, Hancock. Registration fee is $150 per team. Cruise-In Warfordsburg Senior Center will have a cruisein August 29, from 11 a.m .to 4 p.m. The social will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a covered dish and music provided by DJs Barb and Forrest and a walk-rock-roll at 7 p.m. For more information call 717-294-6020.

Art In The Park Create your own piece of the park to take home at Art In The Park at Cowans Gap State Park October 3, at 11 a.m. Meet at the Brightbill Interpretive Center. Join Nancy Mendes to create a landscape of the park. A donation of $25 is requested for participation in these events. Please contact the park office to register.

Historical Society Museum Open Fulton County Historical Society’s Fulton House Museum will be open every Friday, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., through August 28. On display will be paintings by Charles Walker and also the permanent exhibits of chairs, guns, furniture, quilts, etc., all made by local craftsmen from long ago. There is no admission charge, but donations are greatly appreciated.

Special Olympics Special Olympics Fulton County has volunteer and athlete opportunities. Anyone wanting more information should call 717-485-5038, Ext. 211. The management team meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. in the alumni and friends building in McConnellsburg.

Education/Career Services Available Standard of Living Augmentation (SOLA) Inc. will offer education and career services on a weekly basis in Fulton County to job seekers with disabilities, ex-offenders, veterans and those struggling with drug addiction. SOLA will have hours at Fulton County Library in McConnellsburg every Monday between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. SOLA provides a free services including career counseling; job search strategies; access to computer, Internet, phone, fax and copier; resume writing; and interview workshops. SOLA also offers financial management, access to community resources, textbooks and work tools and career development and job leads.

Free Clothing Giveaway Breezewood Lighthouse Assembly of God will hold a free clothing giveaway Thursday, August 20, and Friday, August 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day at the church, 1092 Lighthouse Road, Breezewood.

Government Contracting Seminar The county of Fulton will host a Government Contracting 101 seminar during a time frame in September. This seminar will outline the free services and support available from the PTAC at SAP&DC to assist companies with their government contracting efforts. Hunter Trapper Course Hunter Trapper education course will be held Saturday, September 5, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club. Calling All Artists The annual Nancy Horton Heefner Memorial Art Show, sponsored by Mercersburg Historical Society, will be held in the Burgin Center on the campus of Mercersburg Academy Sunday, September 20 - Sunday, September 27. A reception will be held September 20 from 1-4 p.m. This show is held in memory of Mrs. Heefner, a Mercersburg artist and teacher of art, and is open to artists in Franklin and Fulton counties and Washington County. All artists in these counties are cordially invited to participate in this nonjuried art show. Farmer’s Market Vouchers Available Farmer’s market vouchers are still available at the Fulton County Area Agency on Aging. Individuals age 60 and over who have not yet received vouchers this year with income for a 1-person household less than $21,775 and a 2-person household less than $29,471 are eligible for the vouchers. Vouchers will be available until September 30 while supplies last. More information may be obtained by calling 717-485-5151.

Free Meal A free meal will be served the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street. Please join in for good fellowship.

Ice Cream Social/Parade Needmore Fire Co. will hold its annual firemen’s parade and ice cream social Saturday, September 5. Lineup starts at 5:30 p.m. and parade starts at 7 p.m. Available will be hamburgers, hot dogs, barbecues, french fries and homemade ice cream and music. Anyone wishing to participate in the parade should call 717-573-2821.

PASR Picnic Fulton County PASR will hold a “I’m Not Going Back to School” picnic Wednesday, August 26, at Mc- Connelslburg Lions Club Park pavilion at 11 a.m. All retired school personnel are invited. Please bring items for auction to benefit the scholarship and grant funds. Bring food to share. Come visit with friends and enjoy the fun. Monetary donations to the Fulton County Food Basket are always welcome.

Festival Center Methodist Church will hold its final festival of the year August 22, at 4 p.m. Turkey dinners will be available with filling, mashed potatoes, green beans or corn, applesauce or coleslaw, also soup, sandwiches, pie, cake and ice cream. The building is located next to Center Church, onehalf mile off Rt. 655 or Waterfall Road on Dublin Mills Road.

Free Pig Roast A free pig roast and pulled pork picnic will be held at Ebenezer United Methodist Church pavilion, 226 Ebenezer Church Road, Needmore, on August 22. The church is located approximately six miles south of Route 30 between Pleasant Ridge Road and Sipes Mill Road. Bring family and a covered dish. Gather at 4 p.m. for visitation with meal at 5 p.m. The pork, drinks and other amenities will be provided. Bring law chairs. Everyone welcome.

Free Lunch The first Friday of every month a free and nutritious lunch is served in the Faith & Life Center at Mc- Connellsburg United Methodist Church on the courthouse square from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Grandma Ann’s Peach Pie Sale Saint Stephen Family Life Committee is sponsoring a Grandma Ann’s peach pie sale Saturday, August 22. The pies can be picked up in the social hall after 9 a.m. Cost of the pies are plain $9 and crumb $10. To order call Sister Margie at 485-5917.

Ice Cream Festival Fairview United Methodist Church will hold its ice cream festival September 12. The church is located four miles north of Hustontown on North Hess Road. Homemade ice cream, soups, sandwiches, french fries and dessert will be available for sale. Festivals begins at 4 p.m. Remember: Due to the turnpike bridge construction a detour is in effect on North Hess Road.

HEALTH

Nar Anon Nar Anon, a support group for families who are dealing with loved ones who have addiction issues, will be changing their meeting dates for the summer. There will be only one monthly meeting for the months of July and August. The meeting dates are Monday, July 13, and Monday, August 17. Weekly meetings will resume on September 14. Free Blood Pressure Screenings Free blood pressure screenings will be given at the following locations: McConnellsburg Senior Center – the first Thursday of every month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Hann’s Apartments – the first Thursday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.; Warfordsburg Senior Center – the first Tuesday of every month from 11 a.m. to noon; and Hustontown Senior Center – the third Thursday of every month from 11 a.m. to noon and Mt. View Apartments – second Tuesday monthly 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Narcotics Anonymous Narcotics Anonymous will meet at 7 p.m. Sunday nights in Fulton County Medical Center in the Pearl Room. NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. Membership is open to all drug addicts, regardless of the particular drug or combination of drugs used (including alcohol). Anyone is welcome. Kuhn-Clevenger-Kendle Reunion The Kuhn-Clevenger- Kendle Reunion will be held Sunday, September 20, 2015, at Upton Community Center at 1 p.m. Bring place settings, utensils and drinks for your family and two dishes to share (a hot dish and a cold dish). Don’t forget to bring an item for the auction.

FR Class Of 1966 Reunion Forbes Road Class of 1966 will hold their 49th class reunion Saturday Sept.12, 2015, at Hustontown Firehall. Social hour at 5 p.m., followed by meal at 6 p.m. Bring an item for the auction. For more information or to RSVP call 717-485-4639.

RELIGION

Back-To-School Prayer Night Please plan to attend the back-to-school prayer night Monday, August 24, at Forbes Road High School at 7 p.m., in the high school auditorium. Everyone is welcome to attend. Cover the area schools with a blanket of prayers to begin the new year. Starting Tuesday, September 1, from 7:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., will be morning prayer group. This is open to all administrators, faculty, staff, students and community members. They will meet every Tuesday morning that the school is in session.

BINGO

Fair Bingo Bingo will be held at the Fulton County Fair Thursday, Friday and Saturday, August 20, 21 and 22, at 7 p.m. under the big white tent. Three cards for $1 with 50/50 prize each game.

MEETINGS

Garden Club Meeting North End Garden Club will meet Tuesday, August 25, at Sideling Hill State Park for a picnic and Chinese bingo. Carpooling from Giant at 10:30 a.m. and Tressa’s at 10:45 a.m. Paper supplies taken care of. All are welcome. More information may be obtained by calling 485-4017.
