Strawberry Festival The 25th annual Strawberry Festival is set for Friday and Saturday, June 12 and 13. Activities begin at 10 a.m. each day. Friday features music by Jan Fraker’s “Old Friends” at noon; old-fashioned band concert by Mercersburg Community Band at 7:30 p.m. Saturday morning kicks off with the 5K Strawberry Stampede run/walk. Saturday hours have been expanded into the evening for a special concert by local country-western singer Michael Eston at 7 p.m. Also featured will be beautiful baby and toddler contest, coloring contest for kindergarten and first graders.

Garden Tours A tour of six private Fulton County gardens and three public gardens will be held June 13, sponsored by Penn State Master Gardeners of Fulton County. Tickets are available at the Chamber of Commerce office in McConnellsburg. More information may be obtained by calling 325-4870.

Car Show A car show will be held June 20, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at McConnellsburg High School. Registration is $10. Open to cars, trucks, motorcyles, tractors and AVTs. Food and raffles available. PIAA Officials Training PIAA high school training for new field hockey officials will be held July 27, 28 and 29, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Shippensburg University. No charge. To register call 717-377-3707 or abhall91@centurlylink.net. Must be 17 years of age.

Open Stage An open stage will be held at Hustontown Firehall Saturday, June 27, at 6 p.m. Kitchen opens at 5 p.m. Free admission.

Game Night Game night will be held at Warfordsburg Senior Center Friday, June 5, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Seniors 60 and older are welcome to come and join in the games. Bring a snack. Call 717-294-6020 for more information.

Mic Night Mic Night will be held at Warfordsburg Senior Center June 13 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Kitchen opens at 4 p.m. Food and drink will be available. Monetary donations are appreciated. For more information call 717-294-6020.

Football/Cheer Sign-ups Hancock flag football and cheer sign-ups will be held June 12, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and June 13, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Hancock Community Center for children entering kindergarten through fifth grade. Cost is $35 for football and returning cheer if uniform fits and $50 for new cheer. All games and practices will be played in Hancock. Bring birth certificate. Contact hancockflagfootball@yahoo.com.

Music In The Gap Music In The Gap, a free summer concert series sponsored by Friends of Cowans Gap, will begin June 13. Circa Blue, not completely traditional, not completely newgrass, will entertain on June 13; Penn Street Project, a string band, will perform July 11; and Einstein Cowboy, local artists Mitchell Morrill and Kevin Shannon, will bring sounds of acoustic guitars on August 8. Swimming Lessons The American Red Cross will sponsor swimming lessons for all ages at James Buchanan High School pool this summer. Session #1: June 15-26; session #2: June 29 - July 10; and session #3: July 13-24. Classes taught are at 9:15 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. To register please call 717-369-4878.

Youth Field Day Fulton County Sportsmen for Youth will host a Youth Field Day for youths ages 10 to 15 at Camp Sinoquipe, Saturday, June 13, 2015. Event participation is free and includes a light breakfast and lunch. For information only contact John Johnston at 717-485-5390. Summer Lunch/Breakfast Join in this summer for lunch and breakfast at Central Fulton High School cafeteria. Free, nutritionally balanced lunch and breakfast, for all children 18 years and under regardless of income status. No registration or reservations required. Walk-ins are welcome. Breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Adults are welcome. Adult meal price is $3 for a lunch and $2 per breakfast. Rabies Clinic A rabies clinic will be held June 6, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Wells Tannery Community Park. Also available will be other vaccines and flea products. Cost is $10. Dog licenses will also be available. Proceeds benefit Wells Tannery Presbyterian Church.

Saccone To Speak PA State Rep. Rick Saccone will speak on “God and Government,” Thursday, June 4, at Fulton Theatre, 100 Lincoln Way East, McConnellsburg, at 7 p.m. The public is welcome. Donations will be received to cover expenses.

Meals Available Once a month volunteers pack up boxes of food to be given to anyone in need in the Waterfall area. Pickup is at Center United Methodist Church community building on Doran Road, Waterfall. More information may be obtained by calling 814-685-3780. Calls will be kept strictly confidential.

Love’s Closet Love’s Closet will be held Saturday, June 6, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at 416 Lincoln Way East, behind H&R Block. Available are clothing, shoes, household items, cleaning supplies, toiletries, toys and more free. Sponsored by Fulton County Christian Social Services.

Historical Society Museum Open Fulton County Historical Society’s Fulton House Museum will be open every Friday, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., beginning June 5 and running through August 28. On display will be paintings by Charles Walker and also the permanent exhibits of chairs, guns, furniture, quilts, etc., all made by local craftsmen from long ago. There is no admission charge, but donations are greatly appreciated.

Hunter Trapper Education A hunter trapper education course will be held Saturday, June 20, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club. Preregistration is required at www.pgc.state.pa.us. Click on education/hunter education class schedule. Class is limited to 55 students. Bring bag lunch for Saturday. Special Olympics Special Olympics Fulton County has volunteer and athlete opportunities. Anyone wanting more information should call 717-485-5038, Ext. 211. The management team meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. in the alumni and friends building in McConnellsburg.

Spaghetti Supper A free spaghetti supper will be held Tuesday, June 9, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 7404 Lincoln Highway, Harrisonville, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Served will be spaghetti, salad, dessert and beverage. All are welcome.

Free Lunch The first Friday of every month a free and nutritious lunch is being served in the Faith & Life Center at Mc- Connellsburg United Methodist Church on the courthouse square from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Potato/Salad Bar Meal St. Paul United Church of Christ, 4822 Steele Ave., Lemasters, will hold a potato and salad bar meal with all the fixings along with strawberries and ice cream, Friday, June 5, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. David Powers will also be in concert. Ice Cream Festival Siloam United Methodist Church will hold an ice cream festival Saturday, June 27, at 4 p.m. Menu will include sandwiches, soups, pies and over a dozen varieties of homemade ice cream.

Chicken BBQ Fulton County Democratic Committee will hold a chicken barbecue Saturday, June 20, at 11 a.m., at Mc- Connellsburg firehall. Available by the half and/or dinner. There will also be a bake sale.

Homecoming Celebration Timber Ridge Cemetery Association, in cooperation with Antioch Christian Church, invites all to the homecoming celebration Sunday, July 26, at Antioch Christian Church at 2 p.m. Included will be gospel music and a memorial message followed by fellowship at the adjacent pavilion. Ice Cream Festival Center United Methodist Church will hold an ice cream festival June 6, at 4 p.m. Also served will be turkey dinners with filling, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn or green beans, coleslaw or applesauce, sandwiches, soup, pie, cake and ice cream. The building is located next to Center Church, one-half mile off Rt. 655, Waterfall Road, on Dublin Mills Road. Mark calendars for festivals on July 11 and August 22.

Father’s Day Picnic Hustontown Senior Center will hold a Father’s Day picnic June 25 at noon. The menu will be hamburgers, hot dogs, macaroni and cheese, baked beans and waffle ice cream sundaes. All ages welcome. Cost is $6. Please call 987-3770 on or before Monday, June 22, to make a reservation. Money is due at that time.

Peck’s Bake Sale Emma Peck’s Sweetest Treats bake sale will be held June 12 and 13 at McConnell Park, West Market Street. Proceeds benefit Glycogen Storage Disease research and education funds.

Festival St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Big Cove Tannery, will hold a festival June 20 at 4 p.m. Menu includes homemade ice cream, soups, pies and cakes. Served will be barbecues, hamburgers and hot dogs and sandwiches. Entertainment provided by Silver Creek Bank from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Church is located five miles south of McConnellsburg on Route 522.

Free Meal A free meal will be served the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street. Please join in for good fellowship.

HEALTH

Blood Drive A blood drive will be held June 11 at Faith Center in Warfordsburg from 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Nar Anon Nar Anon is a support group for families who are dealing with loved ones who have addiction issues. It is a weekly meeting that is open to anyone who would like to attend. Meetings are every Monday evening at 7 p.m. at Fulton County Medical Center in Barmont Room 1. More information may be obtained by calling 717-485-3731.

Alzheimer’s/Dementia Support Group Alzheimer’s/ dementia support group meets the third Tuesday monthly at 6 p.m. in Fulton County Medical Center, Pearl Room. More information may be obtained by calling 717-485-6108.

Narcotics Anonymous Narcotics Anonymous will meet at 7 p.m. Sunday nights in Fulton County Medical Center in the Pearl Room. NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. Membership is open to all drug addicts, regardless of the particular drug or combination of drugs used (including alcohol). Anyone is welcome. SF Class Reunion Southern Fulton Class of 1986 will hold a 30th reunion planning meeting Saturday, June 6, at 9 a.m. at Rehoboth New Life Church (the old Needmore bank), to set a date and place for the reunion. MEETINGS

Farm Women Meeting Fulton County Society of Farm Women will meet Thursday, June 4, at 7 p.m., at the home of Joy Dasher. There will be a presentation by Mike Crampton on the Frontier Barn Quilt Trail of Fulton County.

Meeting Change Needmore Volunteer Fire Co. and Relief Assoc. has changed its meeting night of June 4 to June 11 at 6:30 p.m.

Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting Alcoholics Anonymous meeting is held every Monday morning at 11 a.m. (even holidays) in the Pearl Room, second floor of Fulton County Medical Center. This is an open meeting that anyone can attend.

RELIGION

Bible School Center United Methodist Church will hold Bible School June 22-26, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The church is located one-half mile off Rt. 655 on Dublin Mills Road.

Bible School Vacation Bible School will be held at Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, 2507 Pleasant Ridge Road, Needmore, June 8-12, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Bible School Vacation Bible School will be held at Fairview United Methodist Church on North Hess Road, Harrisonville, June 22-25 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Friday, June 26, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with the VBS program at 7:15 p.m. The theme is “Bible Blast To The Past.” Takes kids on an amazimg journey to learn to know what God’s love is. Explore His everlasting love and serve Him by loving others. All are welcome.

Bible School Knobsville Church of the Brethren will hold Vacation Bible School June 15-19, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., for ages pre-K to junior high.
