Senior Center Social Night Warfordsburg Senior Center will host its first social of the year Saturday, March 28. Seniors 60 and older come and enjoy an evening of music with Barb and Forrest. Bring a covered dish at 5 p.m. Music will start shortly after. For more information call 717-294-6020.

Shooting Stars Registration Shooting Stars will hold registration March 30, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at Needmore Bible Church fellowship hall. Registration is for majorettes ages 3-23. Banner carriers are needed for any age. Shooting Match Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will hold a .410 only shooting match Saturday, March 21, at 1 p.m. Shells will be furnished with prizes awarded.

Open Stage Hustontown Volunteer Fire Co. will sponsor an open stage Saturday, March 28, at 6 p.m. Kitchen opens at 5 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Basketball Competition Fulton County Community Christian School will hold its annual 3-on-3 basketball competition Saturday, March 28, at Needmore Bible Church gym. Camp Cadet Fulton County Camp Cadet is accepting applications for the 2015 Camp Cadet at Sinoquipe Scout Reservation in Fort Littleton from June 7 to June 12. Applicants must be residents of Fulton County between the ages of 12 through 15 before June 1, 2015. No cost to the cadet. Applicant may obtain applications through the school presentations that will occur during the week of March 9 or at the Pennsylvania State Police barracks or by calling 717-485- 3131. Applications will be accepted through March 20.

Egg Hunt Forbes Road Lions Club Easter egg hunt will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 4, weather conditions permitting. In case of inclement weather or muddy rounds, the event will take place in the high school gym. Candy and special prizes for toddlers thru 12-year-olds. Raffle tickets are now on sale to support the hunt and other projects.

Gym Open For Exercise McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends Association will open the alumni community gym every Monday, Wednesday and Friday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for anyone to get out of the cold and exercise in the gym. Cowans Gap 5K Run/Walk The first annual Cowans Gap 5K Run/Walk will be held Sunday, March 29, at 2 p.m. at the park. Proceeds go directly back to the park for educaitonal programming, facility upgrades and for the preservation of the natural resources. The course will take runners/ walkers through both campgrounds and cabin colony. Roads are mostly flat. Race day registration begins at 1 p.m. near the food concession building at the beach. Run-only registration before March 27 is $20. Registration before March 19 with comfortable wicking fiber shirt is $30; race day registration is $25 (no shirt). CF K4/K5 Registration Central Fulton School District will hold registration for the 2015-2016 school year Monday, March 16, and Monday, March 23. Children who will be age 4 on or before the first day of school (week of August 24) are eligible for the K4 program and children who will be age 5 on or before the first day of school are eligible for the K5 (kindergarten) program. Please note that students who are currently enrolled in the K4 program do not need to re-register for K5. Please contact Stacy Morton at 485-7072 to schedule an appointment.

Free Tax Preparation Chambersburg Tax Aide Program and the AARP Foundation offer free tax preparation in Chambersburg and McConnellsburg to low-to-moderateincome families. Help filing 2014 tax returns will be available to those who meet criteria set forth by AARP. Tax returns

will be done on a first-come, first-served basis at the following sites: Eugene C. Clarke Jr. Community Center, 235 South Third Street, Chambersburg, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays; Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, 755 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, from 8 a.m. to noon. Wednesdays at Fulton Theatre Building, North Second Street, McConnellsburg, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those who are physically unable to go to a site may call 263-5479 to request a visit by two counselors.

Lawn/Fruit Workshops A workshop on site preparation, seed selection, sowing and maintenance will be held Saturday, April 4, 2015. A workshop on the basics of selecting, growing and maintaining strawberries, blueberries and brambles (raspberries and blackberries) will be held Saturday, May 2, 2015. First 10 registrations/attendees will receive a free plant. Both programs will run from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the first floor of McConnellsburg Firehall. Cost is $10/person. Victory Garden Kickoff The fourth annual community Victory Garden within McConnellsburg Borough will kick off April 30. This program runs April thru September and will be held on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Second Street behind McConnellsburg Firehall. The garden’s home is on the property of the United Presbyterian Church administrative building. Cost is $25/person and$30 for a family for the entire season. Money must accompany reservations. Meals Available Are you hungry? Could a few groceries help to feed you and your family? Once a month volunteers pack up boxes of food to be given to anyone in need in the Waterfall area. Pickup is at Center United Methodist Church community building located on Doran Road, Waterfall. More information may be obtained by calling Debbie at 814-685- 3780. Hunter Trapper Education A hunter trapper education class will be held Saturday, March 21, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club. Preregistration is required. Summer Lunch/Breakfast It’s not too early to think about summer plans. Join in this summer for lunch and breakfast at Central Fulton High School cafeteria. Free, nutritionally balanced lunch and breakfast, for all children 18 years and under regardless of income status. No registration or reservations required. Walk-ins are welcome. Program will run from June 8 to August 21. Breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Adults are welcome. Thrift Store Accepting Donations Paws For Hope Thrift Store is accepting donations during business hours. Taking household items, clothing, furniture and supplies for Bedford County Humane Society. Computer Classes Free computer classes will be held at Fulton County Library in McConnellsburg with instructor Jill Yaich. Choose your own topic. Kindle, Nook, Internet Basics, e-mail, whatever you need help with. Sign up for a time between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., up to an hour. Lawn Care Workshop A lawn care workshop will be held Saturday, April 4, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the first floor of McConnellsburg Firehall, East Maple Street. Book Sale More than 60,000 new and used books of all types, plus CDs, maps, sheet music, magazines, videotapes and artwork will be offered for sale at bargain prices at the 31st annual Friends of Legal Services book sale at Laird Hall on the Wilson College campus in Chambersburg. Includes silent auction for rare books and artwork on May 8 and 9. Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 8; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 9; and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 10. St. Patrick’s Pie Sale Saint Stephen Family Life Committee will sponsor a Grandma Ann’s cherry and apple pie sale March 14 and 15. Pies may be picked up after 9 a.m. Saturday, March 14. The cost of the pies are plain $8 and crumb $9. To place an order call 717-485-5817.

Pancake Supper Bedford Chapel Church, Rt. 643, 4570 Flickerville Rd, Warfordsburg, will hold an all-you-can-eat pancake supper Saturday, March 28, from 4:30 pm. until 7 p.m. Menu includes pancakes, buckwheat cakes, sausage, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, coffee and juice. Everyone welcome.

Free Meal A free meal will be served the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street. Please join in for good fellowship.

Easter Bake Sale Hustontown Senior Center will hold an Easter bake sale April 1 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and April 2 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. There will be a variety of delicious baked goods and homemade peanut butter eggs.

Senior Center Meal Hustontown Senior Center will hold a special meal Thursday, March 26 at noon. The meal will be pulled pork sandwich, baked macaroni and cheese, tater tots and ice cream brownie sundae. Cost is $5. All are welcome to attend regardless of age. Game Feed The annual game feed will be held at Calvary Independent Baptist Church, 140 McGoverns Lane, Mc- Connellsburg, March 21, at 5 p.m. Special speaker will be Marine Sgt. Zachary Stinson. Everyone is invited for a meal, fun and fellowship with many prizes given away.

First Friday Lunch The first Friday of every month a free and nutritious lunch is being served in the Faith & Life Center at McConnellsburg United Methodist Church on the courthouse square from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime will be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Wednesday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Fulton County Medical Center cardiopulmonary rehab gym. Alzheimer’s/Dementia Support Group Alzheimer’s/ dementia support group meets the third Tuesday monthly at 6 p.m. in Fulton County Medical Center, Pearl Room. More information may be obtained by calling 717-485-6108.

Narcotics Anonymous Narcotics Anonymous will meet at 7 p.m. Sunday nights in Fulton County Medical Center (follow signs at the main entrance to the Pearl Room). NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. Membership is open to all drug addicts, regardless of the particular drug or combination of drugs used (including alcohol). Members share their successes and challenges in overcoming active addiction and living drug-free, productive lives through the application of the principles contained within the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of NA (patterned after Alcoholics Anonymous). Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month from 10 a.m. to noon. When the third Monday is a holiday, the class is held the fourth Monday. To register or sign up for lunch call 717-294-6020.

McConnellsburg AA Meetings The McConnellsburg Chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. every week at the Alumni Community Center basement, McConnellsburg.

BINGO

ARC Bingo The ARC of Frankin and Fulton counties will hold a Vera Bradley/Longaberger basket bingo Sunday, March 22, at Chambersburg VFW, 747 South Fourth Street, Chambersburg. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and bingo begins at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 each and include a lunch and 28 games of bingo. Tickets can be purchased at the door. For questions call 264-4390. Proceeds benefit individuals with intellectual disabilities in Franklin and Fulton counties.

RELIGION

Journey To The Cross “Journey To The Cross,”a walk-thru dramatic worship presentation of Christ’s Holy Week journey, will be held Wednesday, April 1, and Friday, April 3, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at McConnellsburg United Methodist Church on the courthouse square. All are invited to follow Christ from the triumphal entry to the empty tomb in 20-minute walking tours.

Special Services “The Story” will be presented in video and song March 22 at 7:30 p.m. by McConnellsburg United Methodist Church choir, 121 North Second Street, Mc- Connellsburg.

Lent Services Lenten services schedule is as follows: March 15 – Mt. Tabor with Rev. Hamilton; March 22 – Fort Littleton Bible Church with Rev. Williams; March 29 – closing services with communion at Laurel Ridge with Rev. Strait. Services will be held at 7 p.m.

MEETINGS

Sportsmen’s League Meeting Fulton County Sportsmen’s League will meet at 7 p.m. in the stone house at the trout nursery March 20. Details for the annual trout stocking and fundraiser on the first day of trout season, April 18, will be discussed.

Quilt Club Meeting Fulton County Quilt Club will meet Saturday, March 21, at 10 a.m., in the community room of Fulton County Library, North First Street, McConnellsburg. This month’s demonstration will be using the double diamond ruler. Items needed for the class are a light, medium, dark fat quarters, sewing machine, rotary cutter and mat.

Cemetery Meeting Knobsville Methodist Church Cemetery Assoc. will meet Wednesday, March 25, at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Naomi Waite. All interested parties are welcome.
