LaRue M. Shaw Harrisonville, 92

LaRue Maye Shaw, 92, Harrisonville, died at 5:20 p.m., Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg.

Born February 28, 1922, in Taylor Township, Fulton County, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Maye (Knepper) Berkstresser Sr. She was married to Harry M. Shaw Sr. on August 24, 1944. He preceded in death on June 25, 2001.

She was the mother of two children and also a mother to many others. She is survived by a son, Harry M. Shaw Jr. and wife Debbie, Oklahoma City, Okla.; two grandchildren: Harry Shaw III and Gregory David Shaw; four great-grandchildren: Alicia, Andrew, Stephanie and David Shaw, along with six great-great-grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters: Archie Berkstresser, McConnellsburg; Jean Cline, Chambersburg; Clifford Berkstresser and wife Julie, Harrisonville; Neil Berkstresser, Harrisonville; and Joan Geesaman and husband Ken, Shippensburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Lee Shaw; and two brothers: Ronald and Ralph Berkstresser Jr..

She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church, Harrisonville, where she was a longtime Sunday school teacher, Methodist youth fellowship leader and a member of United Methodist Women’s Group.

She was a homemaker, gardener and artist and in earlier years worked at Howard Johnson’s restaurant on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Fairview United Methodist Church, Harrisonville. Rev. Jay Saxe and Pastor Jean Swett officiated. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery.

Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown, was in charge of arrangements.
