Hustontown

By Kate Berkstresser

A good weekend to get out and enjoy the beautiful spring weather. Those early blossoms are coming out which adds to the beauty of spring. Some folks are getting those gardens started.

Our sympathy is extended to the relatives and friends of LaRhue Shaw who passed away last week. She was a great lady and will be greatly missed. Rev. Jaye Saxe and Pastor Jean Swett were the officiants for the service.

Sorry to hear Rheon Gelvin fell and broke his leg and had to have surgery at Hershey Hospital last week. Please keep him and his wife, Patsy, in your prayers.

Happy birthday wishes to Harriet Hill and Rheon Gelvin on May 8.

Shawn Berkstresser, Sue and children were visiting family and friends in Fulton County over the weekend.

They are beginning to destroy the two homes in the center of Hustontown for the road going toward Clear Ridge. We hate to see landmark homes destroyed, but highway improvements are needed. We hear the road work will take most of the summer.

Household Hint: A straight claw hammer makes a good tool for removing clumps of weeds such as dandelion from the lawn. Just grab the weed between the claw and pull.
