Theft Reported

A 49-year- old McConnellsburg man told state police he received a telephone call from an individual claiming to be with Publishers Clearing House on Friday, December 21. In hearing he had won a substantial amount of money, the man sent money to the individual as part of a claim payment. He did not receive any winnings, police added.

Fugitive From Justice Apprehended

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg apprehended a fugitive from justice on Sunday, December 23, who was wanted for larceny in Baltimore County, Md. Troopers picked up Terrie Lee Box, 40, at 150 Carrick Valley Road at 3:50 p.m. She was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Tamela Bard and committed to the Franklin County Prison in lieu of $100,000 pending an extradition hearing.

Car Strikes Guiderail

A westbound 2010 Mercedez Benz E350 struck a guiderail along Interstate 70 on Monday, December 24, state police said. Driver Charles F. Strasburger, 52, of St. Michaels, Md., was not injured when he lost control of his car in Brush Creek Township during a snowstorm. He will be cited for driving a vehicle at unsafe speeds.

Pittsburgh Man Uninjured

A Pittsburgh, Pa., man escaped harm during a single vehicle accident along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 over the weekend.

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg reported 29-year-old Matthew J. Arch was travelling through Bethel Township at 8:13 a.m. on December 29 when he crossed a patch of ice on the road. Arch’s 2012 Volkswagen Jetta spun out of control, striking a guiderail on the berm twice.

Arch was wearing a seat belt. He will be cited by state police for driving on roadways laned for traffic.

Police Investigate Knife Incident

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg are filing prohibited weapons charges against Marshall Robert Richards, address unknown, in connection with an incident on Sunday, December 23. Police stated Richards was in possession of a spring-loaded knife or switch blade in a grassy field at the intersection of Great Cove and Big Cove Tannery roads at 2:08 a.m. Charges will be filed through Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.

Vehicle Drives Into Median Strip

A westbound 2008 Toyota Highlander ran off Interstate 70 near the Town Hill exit on Wednesday, December 26, and came to a rest in the median strip, state police said. Due to roadway conditions, the disabled vehicle was not recovered until the following morning by Town Hill Towing. Both lanes of Interstate 70 were closed for approximately 15 minutes while the recovery occurred at 11:15 a.m.

Police did not reveal the identity of the driver or if injuries were suffered during the crash in Brush Creek Township. The driver will be cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.

Car Hits Sign

A westbound 2006 Honda Civic travelled onto the berm of the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 on Saturday, December 29, and crashed into a sign at 8:19 p.m. The car did not sustain any visible damage, police noted, as it rested along the berm of the eastbound lanes. It was removed from the scene by Fischer’s Towing .

Police did not release the identity of the driver or if in- juries were suffered during the accident in Brush Creek Township. The driver will be cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.

Victim Of Theft

A 23-year- old Hustontown area woman was the victim of a theft that occurred at the Chambersburg Mall in Franklin County on December 20.

According to state police in Chambersburg, two black males bumped into the woman at 5:30 p.m. and stole her wallet, which contained $500 in cash as well as a gift card. Anyone with information pertinent to this theft should contact state police Trooper Polcha at 717-264- 5161.

Car Rolls Over

A Harrisonville woman was not injured when her vehicle rolled over along Lincoln Highway in neighboring Franklin County on Sunday, December 30.

State police in Chambersburg reported Whitney N. Davis was travelling westbound through St. Thomas Township at 7:35 p.m. when the driver in front of her applied their brakes. Police said Davis applied the brakes of her 2001 Ford Escape, which skidded into oncoming traffic and back into the westbound lanes. The car crossed onto the berm and rolled onto its roof near the intersection of Mercersburg Road. Davis, 23, was wearing a seat belt.

Man Arrested After Multiple Crashes

A 29-year-old man from Inwood, W.Va., was arrested on Christmas Day after his alleged involvement in multiple vehicle accidents.

Miguel Aguilar-Perez was arrested by Pa. State Police in Bedford and remanded to the Bedford County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail.

Police said Aguilar-Perez, 29, rear- ended a 2010 Hyundai along Lincoln Highway near the intersection of Breezewood Road at 6:30 p.m. Aguilar-Perez reportedly fled the scene heading eastbound on Route 30 toward Fulton County in a 2003 Saturn Vue.

According to reports, Aguilar-Perez turned around at some point but was travelling westbound in the eastbound lane. He in turn crashed into an oncoming 2007 Chevrolet Impreza driven by Kevin M. Millin, 46, of Harrisonville. The impact caused both vehicles to turn in a counterclockwise motion, and Aguilar-Perez’s car was struck in the driver’s side by a 2003 Chrysler Town and Country driven by Dennis Petre, 31.

Police investigators stated a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt operated by 21-year-old Hustontown area resident Samantha Clippinger then struck the the left side of Aguilar-Perez’s vehicle.

Aguilar-Perez was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol and eight open containers of beer were allegedly found in his vehicle, police noted. He is also accused of being in the country illegally and did not possess a valid driver’s license.

Police said nine individuals were transported to area hospitals for treatment of injuries. Among those was a 41-year-old pregnant female passenger in Millin’s vehicle, who was taken to Bedford Memorial hospital.
