Sister, Brother Take Top Honors In Baby Beef Show


Brittany Truax and Grand Champion steer “Iceman” Brittany Truax and Grand Champion steer “Iceman” Brittany Truax, 13-year-old Forbes Road student, showed the grand champion baby beef while her brother, Levi, 10, showed the reserve champion market steer Monday evening at the 4-H/FFA market Steer Show at the Fulton County Fair.

The sister and brother have both shown reserve champion steers in the past, Levi just last year. They are the children of Lee and Suzette Truax of Hustontown.

Brittany’s grand champion steer named “Iceman” was born on her uncle’s farm and was raised by Brittany since birth. The 16-month-old steer came from the Middleweight No. 2 class and its breed is listed as Maineliner. Brittany has shown two reserve champion steers in previous years. She will be entering the eighth grade at Forbes Road School this fall.

Competing for his third year, 10-year-old Levi Truax took reserve champion honors with his steer named “Blackjack.” Last year Levi also showed the reserve champion steer “Tiny.” This year’s reserve champion baby beef came from the Middleweight No. 2 class and is listed as X-breed.
